Buhari, Nigerian youths are not lazy - Adindu

The state in any circumstance owes it citizens the duty and obligation of care and protection, which is a fundamental right any citizen enjoys in his/her country. From childhood to adulthood, I was told and have been hearing that youths are the leaders of tomorrow; youths are the future leaders. Little wonder, I have stayed to imagine how true this statement is because the leaders of decades back are on queue waiting to govern over and over again, when will the youths lead.  Nigeria has faced a great setback in recent time because of selfish interest of most leaders, influence and inability to understand the actual prerequisite of governance.

It is quite awful that the president of a nation will be bold to make a public statement that his own subjects, the so-called leaders of tomorrow are lazy. Honestly, I am meant to understand the President Muhammadu don’t even know the difference between over-generalization and hedging in public statements. What else does he want Nigerian youths to do? You have refused to give power to the youth, you have sealed most business links in the country, now you have come to blame the victim, ‘that struggling hard youths of Nigeria are lazy’.

These people visit developing countries and come back to tell stories of how organized the place is without reflection of shame. Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari, your statement that Nigerian youths are lazy is simply an erroneous analogy. Do you know how many Nigerian youths striving abroad simply because the society have refused to put tangibles in place?

Your duty is to protect us, not to expose us wrongly to the international community. Whatever you say about who you are meant to protect as yours, will be generally taken by the international community; limiting opportunities to citizens in diaspora. Could it be that he wasn’t composed to face the press at the moment that he had to say what came to mouth? Create opportunities and see youths working to generate more for Nigeria. Save the face of Nigerian youth, both home and abroad!
Politely, we quite understand your old age. If you have started developing a partial amnesia speak up. There is much to what Nigeria could offer to her citizens that is beyond what we are seeing.

Fellow youths and Nigerians. We have seen it all. Time is now for us to wake up to fight for our rights. Start your grass root campaign by declaring your political interest in any little position to your capacity, that is how to step in governmental affairs. Election is around the corner, voting any old man again will be an extended torture and agitations of the so-called leaders of tomorrow. We should strive to get out of this bondage, who is deceiving who?
